Art is serious fun!
I use this phrase as a mantra while I work. I went to CCNY and received a BFA in 1970. I spent 10 years as a colorist for Marvel and DC comics. Since then, I've been painting and sculpting.
I use photographic and media images as source material. These images can be of my own making, or they can come from various published sources. I don't try to duplicate the images. I use them as the starting point of a piece, or as parts of a painted montage. The paint application is an element in the work. Art history, popular culture, and my own reactions to events and images are the stimuli for much of my work.
I want the work to be accessible to everyone, but at the same time, I want to engage people's preconceptions, and make them see familiar things in a new way.
I hope you find my work intriguing.
