Charles Woods

Charles Gregory Woods was born in Chicago, Illinois in 1953 of a largely Polish background  (his family later changed his name) and then was raised in the suburb of Barrington. His degrees are in Philosophy and Religion, holding BA and MA degrees, and is currently working on his Doctoral Dissertation in Philosophy. Woods is broadly educated in the humanities and sciences, especially in the classics and great books, but also in theoretical physics on a layman’s level.

Woods is an award winning architect and author of six published books in that area. Charles is also published in philosophy, and has unpublished works in philosophy, literature and poetry. He has lived for over twenty-five years in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania, in an earth-sheltered house he designed, and has been married for over thirty years to his wife, and 'muse', the poet Julie Kettle Gundlach.

Woods has been creating fine art for the last ten years, with the daily, Van Gogh-like intensity that has earned him the nickname Storm.

Charles is considered by many to be a polymath, in the spirit of the Renaissance, and many have written of his unique form of genius in various creative areas. Like the great Renaissance artist Alberti, Woods is Artist, Architect and Philosopher. Like Wright, he’s created over five hundred architectural designs, and like Picasso, he’s created over fifty thousand gallery quality works of art. Art Professor Dennis Corrigan has stated strongly that in his opinion that Woods is one of the “most prolific artists in history.”

Woods works in many media, and often combines or even transforms one work of art into another, mainly in the areas of abstract and the figural. He’s moved by many great figures in the art world, but resonates the most with German, and the later the American, Expressionist movements.
